Job summary

Carrier Sekani Family Services in Vanderhoof, BC, is seeking a Community Health Nurse for a part-time role (28 hours across four days). You will be a trusted partner, advocate, and source of encouragement helping Indigenous families navigate challenges and build healthier lives within our culturally safe framework.

You will perform nursing skills, crisis interventions, point-of-care testing, referrals, and client education while collaborating with Member Nations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level nursing degree or registered nurse; current BC College of Nurses and Midwives registration; BLS Level C certification; clinical health or cross-cultural health promotion experience; TDG course.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nursing skills and crisis interventions, arrange emergency care if needed, and support referrals.
  • Educate populations on health objectives using appropriate modalities and applied techniques.
  • Assess, plan, implement, document, and evaluate care for patients and families.

The Opportunity

Position Title: Community Health Nurse

Location: Vanderhoof. With travel to Fraser Lake, Nadleh, and Stellat’en.

Employment Type: Part Time - 28 hours / four days per week.

What You’ll Do

As our Community Health Nurse you will be more than a healthcare professional. You'll be a trusted partner, an advocate, and a source of encouragement, helping people navigate challenges, celebrate progress, and build healthier lives. The relationships you create with our Member Nations will have a lasting positive impact! As part of this larger objective, you will:

  • Perform nursing skills, delegated medical functions, and crisis interventions, including, but not limited to, initiating emergency assessments and care, arranging for escort and evacuation as required, providing point of care testing, supporting specimen acquisition (including venipuncture), and arranging referral where necessary.
  • Use a variety of modalitie and applied techniques of social marketing to educate targeted populations and special interest groups on key health objectives.
  • Assess, plan, implement, document, and evaluate the care needs and goals for individual patients/clients and their caregivers/families.
What You Will Bring To The Role
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and/or Registered Nurse;
  • Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives
  • Basic Life Support, Level "C" certificate
  • Acceptable experience in a clinical health setting or cross-cultural health promotion field;
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) course

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $45.9057 to $ 59.4491 per hour. Candidates will typically be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the wage range. Placement within the wage range is dependent on the applicants’ role specific knowledge, skills, abilities, related experience and in consideration of factors such as market conditions and internal equity
