Job description

We are seeking an entrepreneurial and results-driven Community Giving Officer, reporting to the Associate Director of Development, is responsible for expanding community engagement and helping to achieve our fundraising goals.The Officer will lead our community giving initiatives within the Mon Sheong community and connect with organizations, businesses or individuals to develop unique relationships and possible sponsorship agreements.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with community partners and volunteers dedicated to the third-party events and signature events, generating sponsorship revenue in the range of $1,000 to $5,000
  • Identify, build and manage a robust pipeline of gift prospects, with a focus on local businesses, employee groups and local services clubs in all stages of the development cycle to secure gifts and contribute to the growth of the community giving
  • Work in partnership with the Development team to develop peer-to-peer and community fundraising programs
  • Achieve event revenue targets through maximizing event participation, donations, GIK donations and sponsorship
  • Cultivate and promote a culture of philanthropy with Mon Sheong staff and volunteers to support fundraising activities and contribute to the Staff Campaign strategy
  • Attend community fundraising events, leveraging opportunities to build new relationships and engage the general public
  • Maintain community donor/prospect records in Raiser’s Edge so that timely and appropriate donor moves management is accurately being actioned
  • Prepare and coordinate fundraising materials such as proposals, briefing notes and presentations
  • Track and analyze fundraising outcomes to inform strategies and improve results.
  • Performs other duties as required.

What you bring:

  • Minimum 3 years progressive fundraising or business development experience, preferably in community engagement with a proven track record of achieving fundraising goals
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Results-oriented innovative approach to fundraising, comfortable with networking and cold-calling
  • Strong communication, storytelling, and relationship-building skills
  • Exceptional customer service and relationship management skills (diplomacy, discretion, trust and tact), with the ability to respond to various levels of expectations from a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience in Raiser’s Edge (RENXT) and online giving platforms; highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
  • Able to maintain and work with confidential information
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (bilingualism in English and Chinese is an asset)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
