Position Summary

We are seeking a Community Engagement Worker to support outreach and community engagement
initiatives associated with Catholic Family Services Peel Dufferin. This role will involve actively
developing opportunities to engage a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients, parishes,
partner agencies, community service organizations, health and mental health providers, as well as
corporate and community volunteers and donors, in order to enhance awareness and promote the
services offered by CFSPD.


This position will be based in Brampton, Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Positively and professionally represent CFSPD in the community by participating and
    collaborating with community partners on various projects and initiatives as requested.
  • Work with the Director of Programs to create an outreach plan for the agency that balances
    the needs of various programs.
  • Work with Parish communities by developing and implementing community engagement
    opportunities.
  • Organize the speaker’s bureau internally and coordinate speaking opportunities at Parishes
    and community events.
  • Represent the agency at community fairs to promote the services of CFSPD and strengthen
    the profile of the agency within the community.
  • Participate in conferences, sit on community working groups and committees.
  • Engage community and corporate volunteers by articulating expectations, displaying model
    behaviour, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and
    responsibility.
  • Prepare, review and update outreach materials like flyers and promotional material on an
    ongoing basis.
  • Develop, recommend, and ensure implementation of outreach activities and documentation
    of outreach efforts.
  • Support with the effective implementation of community engagement initiatives and
    provide input on the feasibility of new programs and services in response to emerging
    needs in the community.
  • Work with the CFSPD leadership team to explore opportunities to create new initiatives
    with new and existing partner communities and diverse funders.
  • Assisting in the implementation of the agency’s outreach and marketing strategy including
    the social media outreach.
  • Support with grant writing and submitting project funding proposals to support new
    program initiatives and assists with core funding applications.
  • Support with facilitation and coordination of agency events including the AGM, staff retreats
    and events with support from the administrative team and staff wellness committee.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Administration support to clients and collateral contacts.
Qualifications
  • Post Secondary degree or diploma in Social Services or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ frontline experience in community development.
  • Ability to relate to people from a wide range of backgrounds and to engage with target
    groups.
  • Self-starter, able to achieve results with little supervision and work independently.
  • Experience in grant writing and engaging corporate and community volunteers is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external
    stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills to determine work priorities and manage multiple projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build and maintain positive working
    relationships and work in a collaborative environment.
  • High level of professionalism and drive, with an enthusiasm and passion for delivering
    results.
  • Proven data management and analysis skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft office suite of products, expertise in using the internet as a
    resource tool.
  • Ability to work with WordPress and social media platforms is an asset.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
