Job summary

The City of Yellowknife is seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Advisor to join the Economic Opportunities and Investment team and provide essential information to residents. You will drive engagement initiatives and build strong relationships with residents, community groups and stakeholders.

Reporting to the Manager, Economic Opportunities and Investment, you will develop and implement outreach strategies, address issues, and help improve engagement processes to ensure city objectives are

Qualifications

University or college degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years related experience in community engagement within government or corporate settings.
Strong public speaking skills with the ability to relate effectively to government, community members, and interest groups.
Advanced skills in MS Office Suite and ability to craft clear messaging to support City objectives.

Responsibilities

Interface with the public through various means to promote awareness and involvement in planning and decision-making.
Assist with development and implementation of community outreach and communication policies, strategies and campaigns.
Coordinate engagement activities with residents, community groups and stakeholders to foster relationships.
Support the City’s business objectives through effective communication.
