Job description

As the Community Energy Champion, you will be responsible for completing energy assessments, recommending energy efficiency equipment and retrofits to Chief and Council and for bringing awareness of energy conservation strategies to all community members. The Community Energy Champion will also be responsible for managing customized energy efficiency program, responding to general member inquiries regarding energy consumption and exploring opportunities to implement the Community Energy Plan Initiatives.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist to implement recommendation from the Community Energy Plan including research and coordination for large scale renewable energy generation projects and outreach to community members.
  2. Complete walkthrough energy assessments of residential properties and assist with energy data collection to identify any energy savings opportunities for the community.
  3. Recommend energy saving devices including energy efficient lighting, hot water saving devices, and programmable thermostats.
  4. Initiate conversations with members regarding energy usage, specifically on reducing residential water use (Time of use peak hours).
  5. Attend training seminars, workshops, and online courses to maintain up-to-date knowledge on funding opportunities.
  6. Deliver high quality and professional services to Ginoogaming First Nation community members.
  7. Prepare marketing materials such as flyers, brochures, and rebate forms for community engagements.
  8. Maintain and complete all necessary paperwork, record keeping, and documents.
Qualifications
  1. Ability to use or willing to learn Microsoft Office.
  2. Motivated self-starter with the ability to work alone or in a group setting.
  3. A background in project management, energy planning, infrastructure assessment, or similar is preferred.
  4. Interest in energy conservation and sustainability.
  5. Willingness to engage all community members and host community workshops.
