Job summary

Haldimand-Norfolk Women’s Services seeks a Community Educator and Counsellor to provide counselling and advocacy to secondary students who have witnessed or experienced abuse. The role educates the community about gender-based violence and promotes available services in Haldimand-Norfolk.

The 10-month contract covers leave replacement with a starting wage of 29.29 CAD/hour, and may renewal. Candidates may be asked to present the programs and services of the agency during interviews.

Qualifications

• Post Secondary education in Social Sciences, preferably a degree.
• Experience in public speaking, training/education and communications is an asset.
• Knowledge and experience in individual and group counselling.

Responsibilities

• Counselling secondary school students individually or in groups; presence in all secondary schools in Haldimand & Norfolk.
• Presentations to classrooms or groups of students, educators, and parents.
• Promote curriculum development and use social media to communicate issues relating to Gender Based Violence.
• Education on Gender Based Violence to community, agencies, and organizations; inservice training for staff and volunteers.
• Education workshops, social media presence, and fundraising event planning for program support.
• Provide supervision and support to volunteers and Co-op Students.
