Employment Type: Contract Salary (Ending: 01/18/2027), Bargaining Unit (1 Vacancy)

Work Hours: 35 hours per week / Monday-Friday: 9:00am-5:00pm

Work Setting: Onsite (650 Queen Street E, Toronto)

Salary: G: $55,201.79

Program: Supportive Housing - Community Supports & Outreach

The WoodGreen Community Supports and Outreach (CSO) program serves clients 18 years old and above living with mental health challenges and addictions, requiring a supportive housing environment. The program offers individualized case management, community development/engagement, and pest control & hoarding management across small-scale apartment buildings in East York and Downtown Toronto, as well as scattered independent units with rent supplements.

Position Overview

The Community Development Worker promotes wellness through social, recreational, and educational activities for onsite tenants. The role involves networking with external organizations, developing, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating programs for marginalized populations, supervising students and volunteers, and assisting in policy development to improve program delivery.

What You Will Do
  • Maintain records and forms regarding membership and activities using a client database.
  • Prepare reports and statistics to ensure compliance with funder guidelines.
  • Identify emerging needs and develop new programs in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Ensure anti-racism objectives and community development principles are upheld.
  • Familiarize with emergency procedures and ensure service standards are met.
  • Plan and facilitate onsite activities with staff and external partners.
  • Engage tenants to assess interests and develop programming accordingly.
  • Build engaging program spaces and facilitate skill-building workshops.
  • Create and manage a calendar of activities and develop marketing materials.
  • Implement surveys to evaluate programs.
  • Provide emotional support and encourage participation, working closely with case managers.
  • Identify potential peer helpers and collaborate with community partners.
  • Ensure principles of anti-oppression, community development, and harm reduction are incorporated.
  • Participate in ongoing training and supervision.
  • Document interactions and manage statistical data using software.
  • Be prepared to work in environments with pest issues, hoarding, death, and drug use.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring to the Team
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Community Development, or related field.
  • Social Service Worker with 3+ years of experience in program creation and facilitation.
  • 2+ years of experience in health promotion or related programs in non-profit or health sectors.
  • Knowledge of needs assessments, program planning, and implementation.
