Job description

The Regina Open Door Society (RODS) is a non-profit organization that provides settlement and integration services to refugees and immigrants in Regina. RODS is committed to meeting the needs of newcomers by offering programs and services that enable them to achieve their goals and participate fully in the broader community.

We are located in the City of Regina on Treaty 4 land, recognized as the traditional territory of the nêhiyawak/Cree, Nahkawē/Saulteaux, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.

The Regina Open Door Society is seeking a qualified individual for the full-time term position of Community Connection Worker, starting June 1, 2025, to July 16, 2025.

Position Summary

This position collaborates with RODS programs, aiming to increase awareness and engagement of Regina's diverse organizations in supporting newcomers' settlement. It reports to the Manager of Settlement Family and Community Services Unit and the Welcoming Community for Newcomers Team Leader.

Responsibilities
  • Establish linkages with community organizations and cultural communities to build and maintain relationships and connect with culturally diverse populations.
  • Facilitate educational opportunities for community organizations and cultural communities.
  • Provide cross-cultural education to newcomers.
  • Organize events and community dialogues to enhance support for newcomers.
  • Organize and facilitate educational opportunities for mainstream organizations to increase awareness of immigrant and refugee challenges, strengths, and needs.
  • Engage mainstream organizations to understand settlement needs and explore support-building strategies.
  • Support organizations in engaging with RODS and developing culturally appropriate, inclusive services.
Desired Qualifications/Education
  • Post-secondary training in Social Sciences or related work experience (2-3 years).
Experience
  • Knowledge of the Regina community.
  • Demonstrated maturity, responsibility, and commitment.
  • Ability to work in cross-cultural settings.
  • Positive attitude and effective organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong workshop facilitation and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in office software: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, databases, internet/email, Teams, Zoom, social media.
Other Requirements
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
  • Access to a vehicle and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to work both in person and remotely.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Develop culturally appropriate and inclusive services with community agencies and government departments.
  • Deliver cultural awareness workshops.
  • Build partnerships to support newcomer settlement and integration.
  • Introduce RODS services to community organizations.
  • Facilitate programs and services between community agencies and RODS.
  • Provide volunteer opportunities for immigrants and refugees.

The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, with some evenings and weekends required. Occasional travel outside Regina may be necessary.

All positions require a criminal record and child abuse registry check. Benefits include a cost-shared package, employer contributions to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan, and a salary of $42,379.85 annually ($24.15/hour). Successful candidates will complete a six-month probationary period.
