We are seeking a qualified individual for a full-time term position as Community Connection Worker, from June 1, 2025, to July 16, 2025.
Position Summary
This role collaborates closely with RODS programs, aiming to increase awareness and engagement of Regina's diverse organizations in supporting newcomers' settlement. The position reports to the Manager of Settlement Family and Community Services and the Welcoming Community for Newcomers Team Leader.
Responsibilities
- Establish linkages with community organizations and cultural communities to build and maintain relationships and connect with culturally diverse populations.
- Facilitate educational opportunities for community organizations and members of cultural communities.
- Provide cross-cultural education to newcomers.
- Organize events and community dialogues to enhance support for newcomers.
- Organize and facilitate educational opportunities for mainstream organizations to increase awareness of immigrant and refugee challenges, strengths, and needs.
- Engage mainstream organizations to understand settlement needs and explore capacity-building for supporting immigrant and refugee families.
- Support mainstream organizations in engaging with RODS and cultural communities to develop culturally appropriate, inclusive services.
Desired Qualifications/Education
- Post-secondary training in Social Sciences or 2-3 years of related work experience.
- Knowledge of the Regina community.
- Maturity, responsibility, and commitment.
- Ability to work in cross-cultural settings.
- Positive attitude and effective organizational, communication, and time management skills.
- Strong workshop facilitation and coaching skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations.
- Proficiency in Office applications, internet, email, Teams, Zoom, social media, etc.
Other Requirements
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Access to a vehicle and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work both in person and remotely.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop culturally appropriate and inclusive services with community agencies and government departments.
- Deliver cultural awareness workshops.
- Build collaborations to support newcomer settlement and integration.
- Introduce RODS services to community organizations.
- Facilitate programs and services between community agencies and RODS clients.
- Provide volunteer opportunities for immigrants and refugees.
The work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM, with some evenings and weekends required. Occasional travel outside Regina may be necessary.
All positions require a criminal record and child abuse registry check. Benefits include a cost-shared package, a 3% employer contribution to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan after six months, and an annual salary of $42,379.85 ($24.15/hour).
