Job summary

City of Toronto’s Toronto Animal Services seeks an organized Event Coordinator to support community engagement across the city. You will coordinate event logistics, review applications, schedule resources, liaise with staff, community partners and the public, and help deliver events and outreach activities.

Evening/weekend work is required; you will contribute to partnerships initiatives, including fundraising, volunteer and foster programs, and social media content with the Web Content

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Event Management or Community Development, or equivalent.
  • Experience providing admin and project coordination support with multiple priorities.
  • Experience coordinating events, outreach or community initiatives including logistics.
  • Experience preparing admin docs, reports, schedules and records.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and database/records systems.
  • Experience liaising with stakeholders, community orgs, vendors and public.
  • Experience interacting with animals in professional/community settings is a plus.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret policies and apply program requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinates the safe delivery of special events to the public.
  • Receives and evaluates event applications based on program criteria.
  • Liaises with groups and units when coordinating events.
  • Co-ordinates and schedules events and staff.
  • Operates office equipment to input, update and maintain schedules and databases.
  • Checks event locations for feasibility and ensures safety standards.
  • Maintains materials, equipment and supplies in safe order.
  • Orders supplies and maintains inventory.
  • Coordinates requests, maintenance, inspection and repair of equipment.
  • Delivers, sets up and disassembles displays and equipment.
  • Completes reports and statistics related to events.
  • Makes recommendations regarding event coordination and procedures.
