About the workplace

As a Community and Member Specialist, you report to the Community and Membership Manager and are the main contact for communications, member support, and engagement, while assisting with the project’s operations.

This is a permanent, full-time role that is fully on-site at the 312 Main head office location.

A typical day would involve:

Member Engagement

  • Plan and execute events that help members interact with the community as well as foster professional and personal development
  • Develop and support impact measurements, evaluation, and feedback loops
  • Manage, promote, and staff informal and formal programming

Member Support

  • Greeting and supporting community and members to navigate the space
  • Interact with members online and in-person to help develop relationships, foster community connections, and obtain feedback on quality of product, event requests, service levels and overall satisfaction
  • Work with the 312 Main team to build and maintain a positive and collaborative environment for employees and members
  • Assist with member move-ins and move-outs and conduct member orientation sessions for new members
  • Ensure members have clean workspace by keeping the meeting rooms, common space, and kitchen space stocked and tidy
  • Respond to member complaints in a timely manner and settle disputes, grievances and conflicts that may arise within the membership

Operations

  • Respond to member inquiries
  • Ensure front desk coverage during business hours
  • Issue and send event invoices to customers and follow up
  • Maintain databases including the member database, event invoicing, etc.
  • Booking and supporting internal and external events, including handing of contracts for ground floor events
  • Maintain inventories for meeting rooms, kitchen, and common areas
  • Coordinate room reservation, A/V equipment and manage member room usage
  • Complete regular A/V equipment checks
  • Mail and package responsibilities as needed
  • Supervise volunteers or peer staff as required
  • Support 312 Main leadership team with the creation of operational policies and tracking systems when needed
  • Conduct tours for external groups when necessary
  • Assist with member move-ins and move-outs and conduct member orientation sessions for new members
  • Support the ongoing design and development of 312 Main

Special Projects

  • Support Vancity Community Foundation with special projects as needed

You Have:

  • 1-3 years experience working in the non-for-profit sector or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of issues impacting the Downtown Eastside
  • Experience manage basic meeting/event room audio visual equipment

  • Self-Starter- You take initiative, are quick to grasp things, scale up your learning appetite and work hand in hand with the team. You are motivated to work in a dynamic work environment and are accommodative to change agility.
  • Engaged with Community– Have a desire to work with the Downtown Eastside community and engage and support organizations that work with this community
  • A Problem Solver-You have the ability to solve and make decisions to discuss and participate in the development of new programs.
  • Organized & Systematic -You have planning and coordination skills to manage multiple projects and support 312 Main’s members in event and meeting bookings

The salary range for this role is $44,700 to $67,100 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
