Job summary

CSV Midstream Solutions is seeking a Communications Specialist to advance internal and external communications. You will translate complex technical information into clear content, manage channels, and support corporate initiatives across the business.

The role requires strong writing, collaboration with leaders including executives, and the ability to develop engaging materials, presentations, and social/digital content aligned with our brand and strategy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, English, Political Science, Human Resources, or a related field is required
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a corporate communications, public relations, marketing, employee communications, or related role is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint) and experienced using social media platforms, content management systems, and other digital communication tools
  • Ability to leverage generative artificial intelligence tools ethically and responsibly to enhance productivity, creativity, quality of work, and overall efficiency
  • Experience or exposure in supporting senior leaders and working in energy, industrial, engineering, or similar corporate environments would be an asset

Job description

The Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of the organization’s internal and external communications initiatives through the development of high-quality communications, presentations, and corporate content that inform, engage, and connect employees and external audiences. Reporting to the Communications Lead, this role partners with departments across the organization to translate complex business, operational, and technical information into clear, compelling, and audience-focused communications.

The Communications Specialist serves as a trusted communications resource, managing internal communication channels, supporting social media and digital communications, maintaining and updating the CSV website, and partnering with business units to develop presentations, business cases, briefing materials, and leadership communications. The role also provides communications support for organizational initiatives, change management activities, and community engagement efforts while ensuring consistency with the company’s brand, voice, and strategic priorities.

This role requires a highly organized, collaborative, and creative communications professional with strong writing skills, sound judgment, and critical thinking abilities. The successful candidate is comfortable working with leaders including the C‑Suite, proactively identifying communication opportunities, and contributing ideas that strengthen employee engagement, corporate reputation, and organizational effectiveness.

This role enables Creating Shared Value by fostering meaningful connections between the organization, its employees, communities, and partners through clear, authentic, and impactful communications that strengthen trust, enhance engagement, support informed decision‑making, and reinforce the company’s purpose, culture, and reputation.

Key Accountabilities:

Corporate Communications Support

  • Execute internal and external communications strategies, initiatives, and communication plans in alignment with organizational priorities
  • Draft, edit, and proofread a wide range of communications materials, including employee communications, leadership messages, business updates, reports, presentations, announcements, and corporate publications
  • Develop clear and compelling content tailored to a variety of audiences across the organization.
  • Assist departments in translating technical, operational, and business information into effective communications materials
  • Providing back‑up support to Communications Lead, execute crisis and emergency communications by developing, coordinating, and distributing timely, accurate, and consistent communications during incidents or emerging issues
  • Conduct research and gather information to support communications recommendations and initiatives.
  • Act as a backup resource for the Communications Lead during absences or peak periods

Content Management

  • Coordinate and manage the organization’s internal newsletter and other recurring communication channels
  • Lead the editorial planning process by identifying, gathering, and developing content from across the business
  • Chair or coordinate editorial committee meetings and work with stakeholders to maintain a robust content pipeline
  • Identify and develop stories that highlight employee achievements, business successes, operational milestones, and Creating Shared Value initiatives
  • Ensure communications are aligned with corporate brand standards and messaging

Department Support

  • Create and enhance presentations, reports, and communication materials.
  • Support leaders in preparing presentations for employees, leadership meetings, conferences, industry events, and community stakeholders.
  • Transform complex information into visually compelling and audience‑appropriate presentations.
  • Assist with the preparation of business cases, briefing notes, memos, and correspondence.
  • Conduct research and gather information to support communications recommendations and initiatives.

Digital and Social Media Communications

  • Support the development and execution of social media content and campaigns.
  • Monitor engagement and identify opportunities to strengthen the company’s digital presence.
  • Assist with website content updates and digital communications initiatives.
  • Recommend new communication approaches, tools, and channels to improve audience engagement.

Relationship Management

  • Build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization
  • Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to identify communication opportunities and emerging needs
  • Support communication activities associated with operational, corporate, community, and employee initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business, English, Political Science, Human Resources, or a related field is required
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in a corporate communications, public relations, marketing, employee communications, or related role is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint, Word, and SharePoint) and experienced using social media platforms, content management systems, and other digital communication tools
  • Ability to leverage generative artificial intelligence tools ethically and responsibly to enhance productivity, creativity, quality of work, and overall efficiency
  • Experience or exposure in any combination of the following would be considered an asset: supporting senior leaders, including executive teams, and working within the energy, industrial, engineering, professional services, or similarly complex corporate environments

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions
  • Ability to work in‑person within a collaborative, open‑concept office environment in downtown Calgary
  • Occasional travel to operational sites and company locations, including Grande Prairie, as required
  • Must follow all company safety protocols when visiting operational sites.
  • Occasional attendance at company events, meetings, and community functions outside regular business hours
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities and deadlines
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and the ability to independently drive to company facilities and site locations as needed
