Annual Salary Range: $83,000 - $96,000

Note: This is a term position until March 31, 2026, with the possibility of a one-year extension to March 31, 2027.

Purpose

The Communications Manager develops and executes communication strategies to inspire donations from new donors for the new St. Paul’s Hospital and health campus. The incumbent manages various communications projects and collaborates with external vendors and colleagues across St. Paul’s Foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Write, produce, promote, and expand the Foundation’s Connect e-newsletter and other communications, growing the subscriber list through owned, earned, and paid digital channels, and develop a new content strategy aligned with user journeys.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Manager to develop the Foundation’s content strategy, including bi-annual review of analytics and KPIs, leading brainstorming sessions, and overseeing execution, including photography and video assets.
  • Work with Development and Donor Relations & Stewardship teams to create various materials such as gift announcements, support cases, signage, advertising, and brochures.
  • Oversee the editorial direction and production of the annual Promise magazine and explore opportunities to expand its reach.
  • Lead communications at special events, managing speakers, media sponsorships, visual presentations, and other tasks.
  • Manage on-site communications like billboards, collateral, and digital screens at St. Paul’s Hospital and other Providence Health Care sites.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to produce print and digital materials, ensuring quality and brand consistency.
  • Advise and support staff on communications and marketing projects.
  • Stay informed on current best practices in editorial and content strategy.

Qualifications

  • Six or more years of progressive senior communications experience, preferably in non-profit or agency settings.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications or journalism.
  • Exceptional interviewing, writing, and editing skills, ideally within a fundraising context.
  • Experience with email content creation in Mailchimp and managing email subscriber tactics.
  • Preferred experience in developing content strategies for user journeys and implementing them.
  • Experience managing event communications, including speaker notes, visual presentations, and key messaging.
  • Strong project management skills, with proven ability to manage timelines, teams, and vendors effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to collaborate on complex communication projects.
  • Understanding of branding, graphic design, and print/web production principles is an asset.
  • Professional, positive attitude, and ability to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and high computer literacy.
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling confidential information.
  • Alignment with the mission and values of St. Paul’s Foundation.
