Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a Communications Liaison – Co-Op Student to join our team. This temporary, full-time co-op role provides the chance to work on capital projects and project delivery, translating complex information into clear, engaging communications.

You will collaborate with professionals to communicate with diverse audiences and gain hands-on experience in municipal communications within a dynamic city environment.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in communications, marketing, or business with a marketing major.
  • Excellent in-person and written communication skills.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence, or equivalent.

Position Overview

The City of Kamloops is seeking a temporary, full-time Communications Liaison – Co-Op Student to join our team. This Co-Op opportunity offers the chance to put your communication skills to work in the exciting world of capital projects and project delivery.

Communications Liaison – Co-Op Student

As a Communications Liaison – Co-Op Student, you’ll work alongside professionals delivering projects that help shape and improve our community. You’ll support communications across a variety of projects and audiences – helping translate technical and project information into communications that are clear, accessible, timely and engaging.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  1. Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in either communications, marketing, or business with a major in marketing.
  2. Excellent in-person and written communication skills.
  3. Valid Class 5 BC Drivers Licence, or equivalent.

This is a unionized position with CUPE Local 900; check out our Collective Agreement (2024 - 2025) for full details (ratified 2026 Collective Agreement coming soon). As this is a unionized position, all qualifications must be met in order to be shortlisted for the position.

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. This position will receive 4% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time as per attached CO-OP Student Letter of Understanding.

Hourly Rate $29.629

Hours & Days of Work Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Hours per Week 35
