Job summary

Glenmore Christian Academy in Calgary, Alberta, seeks a Communications Lead to shape internal and external messaging, strengthen the GCA brand, and craft engaging communications for parents, staff, students, alumni and donors.

Qualifications

  • GCA Statement of Faith alignment is required.

Job description

Glenmore Christian Academy (GCA) is an independent, Alberta accredited Christian school located in the Southwest of Calgary, Alberta, specializing in the education of children in grades K-9. GCA is a member of AISCA (Association of Independent Schools and Colleges in Alberta) as well as ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International). GCA's mission is to Teach Truth, Inspire Excellence, Experience God, and Serve through Love. GCA has a head of school, two principals, three vice principals and a staff of over 125 serving approximately 1000 students.

As our school continues to grow—including the exciting development of a future Christian high school—we are seeking an exceptional Communications Lead to lead and strengthen key aspects of communication across our organization.

The Communications Lead will provide strategic leadership for all internal and external communications at Glenmore Christian Academy. This individual will ensure that every communication reflects our mission, values, and commitment to excellence.

Reporting to the Head of School, the Communications Lead will oversee the school's communication strategy, strengthen the GCA brand, and create clear, consistent, and engaging communications for parents, staff, students, alumni, donors, and the broader community.

This is an opportunity to shape the voice of one of Canada's leading Christian schools and help tell the remarkable stories of God's faithfulness in our community.

The position starts August 26, 2026. This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, working 7.5 hours/day.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but will not be limited to the following:

Strategic Communications
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy.
  • Create a consistent voice across all school communications.
  • Streamline communication systems to ensure families receive timely, clear, and relevant information.
  • Advise school leadership on communication priorities and best practices.
  • Manage communications budget.
Branding and Marketing
  • Protect and strengthen the Glenmore Christian Academy brand.
  • Ensure consistent branding across print, digital, advertising, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Develop marketing campaigns that support admissions, community engagement, and school initiatives.
  • Maintain brand standards across all departments.
Digital Communications
  • Oversee and continually improve GCA websites.
  • Lead the school's social media presence through engaging and mission-focused content.
  • Monitor website performance and digital analytics to improve engagement.
  • Explore innovative communication tools, including appropriate AI applications, to increase effectiveness.
Publications and Storytelling
  • Produce weekly parent communications and major school publications.
  • Write articles, newsletters, announcements, feature stories, and other communications as required.
  • Capture and share the stories of students, staff, alumni, and God's work throughout the school.
  • Coordinate photography and video that reflects the life of our community.
  • Design and coordinate production of physical signs and posters for school-wide themes and events.
  • Coordinate official school photos and liaise with third party in charge of photo production.
  • Oversee, design and coordinate yearbook production with a team of volunteers.
Leadership Communications
  • Support the Head of School, principals, and leadership team with speeches, presentations, reports, and community updates.
  • Develop communication plans and roadmaps for significant initiatives, including the vision and development of our future Christian high school.
  • Prepare for and assist with issues management and crisis communications.
Community Engagement
  • Build meaningful communication with parents, alumni, churches, donors, and community partners.
  • Support admissions, development, and advancement initiatives through strategic communications.
  • Help celebrate the culture, accomplishments, and mission of GCA.
  • Support events coordinator in physical and digital communication of school events, such as the spring production, arts nights, band concerts, silent auctions, etc.
Qualifications
  • Agrees with and abides by the GCA Statement of Faith.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Records Check; including Vulnerable Sector Search to be completed less than three months prior to employment and no later than 6 weeks after employment.
  • A vibrant and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Experience managing websites and social media platforms (preferred).
  • Experience in graphic design, and video / photo editing (preferred).
  • An eye for design, branding, and visual storytelling.
  • Experience with photography, video, or digital media (preferred).
  • The ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • High ethical standards and the ability to hold information confidential when necessary.
  • A collaborative spirit with a heart for Christian education.
Education
  • 5+ years of related experience (preferred)
  • A related university degree, ie. Bachelor of Arts (preferred), or a College or University Diploma in a related field.
Compensation

Glenmore Christian Academy offers a compensation package competitive with public schools in Alberta.
