Job description

Reporting to the Community Relations Superintendent, you will be part of the Community Relations Department and collaborate with other departments of the Nunavut division. You will ensure the development and execution of strategic, efficient, cohesive and timely internal and external communication strategies and plans to promote Agnico Eagle’s brand, protect its reputation and support the Nunavut division’s priorities and objectives, while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s culture and high ESG standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop Nunavut’s strategic internal and external communications initiatives by providing communications guidance, planning and project management oversight;
  • Manage the production of internal and external content, including key messages, Q&As, editorial content, social media, ads, videos and other contents;
  • Ensure general photo and video shoots are planned and executed at all Nunavut sites, or upon specific needs, to keep the regional and corporate photo and b-roll library up to date;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the Environment, Permitting and Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Health & Safety, Information Technology, Human Resources and Exploration teams as well as other key business leaders, including the Corporate Communications and Government Relations team;
  • Lead a team of three communications professionals, strategically guiding the professional growth of each member;
  • In collaboration with relevant Subject Matter Experts and departments, develop responsiveness strategies to address or mitigate issues, threats or risks that could potentially impact the division’s reputation, image or operations;
  • Build strong relationships with local/regional media outlets and effectively manage all incoming requests or outreach initiatives;
  • Prepare management and subject matter experts for print, audio and on-camera interviews;
  • Act as a subject matter expert on communications and digital media best practices in managing reputational risk.

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree and/or other post-secondary education in communications, journalism, public affairs or equivalent; a combination of relevant education and experience may also be accepted;
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ professional communications experience including some in a management or team leadership capacity;
  • Exceptional writing, public speaking and presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and distil complex business and technical information into clear, concise documents targeted at diverse audiences;
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational, planning and project management skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives;
  • High level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders;
  • In-depth understanding of and experience with digital media (including websites, social media, research and data analysis and metrics, etc.);
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment;
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate in English (oral and written).

Your Work Schedule

  • Schedule: 5 days of work, followed by 2 days off; a combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Val d’Or or Mirabel, Québec;
  • Travel to Nunavut sites/offices is expected 20% of the time.
