Communications Director 12 – 18 month Contract

Primary Responsibilities & Attitude
The Communications Director manages the internal and external communications for the company. The Communications Director engages with three key stakeholders (employees, clients, potential clients) through the development, promotion and management of Odyssey’s messaging, communication channels, vision, and brand. The role requires a tech-savvy and adaptable individual who is eager and confident in learning new digital tools quickly to facilitate creative solutions to communication challenges.
Primary Responsibilities
General
- Work closely with Leadership teams to provide strategic direction on the organization’s communications and engagement strategy to support our mission, values and strategic priorities.
- Enhance, protect, and maintain brand and reputation (all company materials and messaging).
- Conduct quality control on all communications.
External
- Increase the visibility and reputation of the organization and its leaders through the creation of strategic communications.
- Prepare announcements for press release.
- Maintain website content and plan and implement improvements.
- Share company news and updates on external channels (social media, website, email, etc.).
- Strategize and execute external marketing plan and key messages in line with Odyssey’s brand, image and mission.
- Prepare proposal packages for prospective clients, as required.
- Communicate with prospective clients and partners reliably and professionally.
- Maintain and improve proposal materials for Sales team.
- Manage production, publication and amplification of various short and long form content, ads, email, web, brochures, etc., ensuring compelling messaging and tone of voice and alignment.
- Plan and execute client and influencer appreciation gifts and events.
- Maintain CRM platform / client contact lists.
- Develop, distribute and analyze client satisfaction survey.
- Develop and maintain digital form submissions (JotForm) for Compliance, Client Services, Shareholder Services, and Registered Plans.
Internal and Culture
- Develop and promote internal communication and branding standards.
- Champion company values and mission through key internal messaging.
- Share Odyssey news, standards, recognition, and updates with employees.
- Prepare bi-weekly Town Hall presentations.
- Assist employees with communications coaching (verbal, non-verbal, written, and digital).
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan and carry-out employee activities and events.
- Work with all departments to develop and maintain training programs and manuals.
Skills and Experience:
- Content creation (including some graphic design) for internal and external communication channels (newsletters, brochures, invitations, social media, etc).
- Graphic design and visual communication (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Video production and editing skills.
- Website content management (WP).
- Email marketing campaign development and management (HubSpot).
- Event planning and promotion.
- Cross-departmental collaboration.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to remain organized while prioritizing multiple tasks with varying levels of urgency.
- Solutions-based attitude and an eagerness to drive process improvements by identifying problem areas and presenting solutions to management.
- Above-average computer and software skills with ability to adapt to and apply new technologies.
- Willingness and desire to achieve personal and team goals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of any sensitive information as part of the job function.
