Communications Coordinator - Competition # 2025-078

Join to apply for the Communications Coordinator role at Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working in collaboration with the Communications Team, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of communication functions.

Key Activities

  1. Support Grand Chief for events and travel itinerary.
  2. Assist with videography and photography at all events.
  3. Serve as AMC's primary videographer and photographer for promotional and digital media content.
  4. Manage all photographic and video content from capture to editing.
  5. Curate a gallery of images and videos for marketing and press.
  6. Provide graphic design support and create content using various media formats.
  7. Coordinate activities and materials for photo and video shoots.
  8. Film videos on location and ensure equipment readiness.
  9. Collaborate with the communications team to maintain efficiency.
  10. Produce and coordinate promotional materials, including the AMC annual report.
  11. Prepare presentations and communications for the Grand Chief and senior managers.
  12. Publicize success stories, goals, and objectives through various communication channels.
  13. Perform additional duties and projects related to communications as needed.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Journalism, Public Relations, Creative Communications, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Strong journalism, public relations, photography, videography, and digital media skills.
  • Proficiency with editing tools (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) and asset management software.
  • Graphic design and social media expertise.
  • Experience with event coordination and communication practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of First Nations communities and issues.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and work collaboratively.
  • Ability to create written content independently without AI assistance.
  • Experience working with media and in content creation across disciplines.
  • Knowledge of social media analytics, website design, and relevant software.
  • Interpersonal skills, political acumen, and discretion.

Conditions of Employment

  • Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
