Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief of Staff and working in collaboration with the Communications Team, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of communication functions.
Key Activities
- Support Grand Chief for events and travel itinerary.
- Assist with videography and photography at all events.
- Serve as AMC's primary videographer and photographer for promotional and digital media content.
- Manage all photographic and video content from capture to editing.
- Curate a gallery of images and videos for marketing and press.
- Provide graphic design support and create content using various media formats.
- Coordinate activities and materials for photo and video shoots.
- Film videos on location and ensure equipment readiness.
- Collaborate with the communications team to maintain efficiency.
- Produce and coordinate promotional materials, including the AMC annual report.
- Prepare presentations and communications for the Grand Chief and senior managers.
- Publicize success stories, goals, and objectives through various communication channels.
- Perform additional duties and projects related to communications as needed.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Public Relations, Creative Communications, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.
- Strong journalism, public relations, photography, videography, and digital media skills.
- Proficiency with editing tools (Photoshop, Lightroom, etc.) and asset management software.
- Graphic design and social media expertise.
- Experience with event coordination and communication practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of First Nations communities and issues.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and work collaboratively.
- Ability to create written content independently without AI assistance.
- Experience working with media and in content creation across disciplines.
- Knowledge of social media analytics, website design, and relevant software.
- Interpersonal skills, political acumen, and discretion.
Conditions of Employment
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
