Description
PURPOSE/OVERVIEW:
Coordinate the development and implementation of a communication and marketing strategy that motivates the CRCNA in Canada.
Develop and implement effective communication and marketing strategies. This role will ensure that the CRCNA marketing in Canada relays the denomination's initiatives and how they contribute to advancing the gospel message. The communication and marketing strategies will focus on increasing the name and ministry recognition among the members of the CRC in Canada of Canadian Justice Ministries as well as collaborating with Resonate, Reframe, Thrive, the Canadian Ministry Board, and the Office of General Secretary.

This position offers a flexible work schedule, attractive benefits package (including Group RRSP) and begins with three weeks vacation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Collaborating with the CRCNA executive director, Canada and director of communications and marketing, monitor trends, evaluate impact, and project future communications directions specific to Canada that will best serve the CRCNA in developing its brand identity.
  2. Coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate a yearly communications plan and marketing strategy for the Canadian Office. Such plans will be in alignment with CRCNA brand standards, communications practices.
  3. Serve as the primary communications support for the three Justice & Reconciliation ministries in Canada (Indigenous Ministry, Intercultural Ministry, Centre for Public Dialogue/Committee for Contact with Government) and responsibility for the editorial oversight of the Do Justice blog and podcast.
  4. Identify, collect, edit, and publish video and other news content from Canadian congregations/classes that highlights the work of the CRCNA and can be shared to inform and inspire others.
  5. In coordination with CRCNA Canadian Advancement staff, ensure communications serve the development strategies as needed.
  6. Participate in monthly Communications Council meetings, collaborate with other communicators and provide content for initiatives such as ministry shares that are shared across the CRCNA.
  7. Coordinate and/or delegate the creation and maintenance of databases and information feedback systems (metrics/analytics) for Canadian communications.
  8. Other tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
May be required to supervise interns, short-term or contract staff and other staff as needed.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:
Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required
  1. Able to support the mission, vision and values of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA).
  2. A demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the CRCNA in Canada, including its history, ministries, and governance structure, along with experience within its congregational and denominational contexts.
  3. Hands-on proficiency with web tools, social marketing tools, and web and print design principles.
  4. Experience in video recording, production, and publication.
  5. Excellent writing, communications, and editing capabilities - and the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively to the diversity of CRC members and agency staff.
  6. Demonstrated proficiency in planning and budget management.
  7. Track record of passion for and effective work with justice and reconciliation issues from a Christian, biblical perspective that demonstrates an ability to elevate marginalized voices and lived experiences within the denomination.
  8. A collaborative team player who is able to learn, grow, and be accountable within the context of multiple collaborative and advisory teams.

Education & Experience
  1. Bachelor’s degree required preferably in communications, writing, journalism, congregational practice, theology or similar degree.
  2. At least five years’ experience – or equivalent internships - in similar positions and levels of responsibility/complexity.
Physical Demands
The position is largely desk based and does not require unusual physical activity. Those who may not be ambulatory but are mobile and capable of traveling by car and air and performing the duties described in the position description are encouraged to apply.

Work Environment
The work environment is open to a hybrid/in office location. The position does require travel flexibility – up to 3 days a month on average.
