The McGill Bieler School of Environment is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Communications Assistant to support our outreach and engagement efforts. This role is ideal for a student with a passion for environmental issues, digital storytelling, and communications. You will play a key role in enhancing our online presence, supporting events, and producing multimedia content.
Hiring Unit:
McGill Bieler School of Environment
Position Summary:
Monitor and post content on the School’s social media platforms (Instagram, BlueSky, Facebook, LinkedIn and similar platforms)
Assist in planning and promoting events (e.g., lectures, workshops, conferences)
Copyedit newsletters, web content, and promotional materials
Film short videos for social media and event coverage
Edit video and audio files for digital distribution (e.g., interviews, podcasts, reels)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (French an asset)
Experience with social media platforms and content scheduling tools)
Basic video and audio editing skills (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Audacity, CapCut, Canva)
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Interest in environmental issues
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
Photography or videography experience
Knowledge of accessibility best practices in digital media
