The Forks Communications and Marketing Manager will work on the External Relations team and with various internal departments to lead the marketing and communications operations of The Forks North Portage. This person will play a key role in shaping the organization’s public reputation and stakeholder relationships through strategic communications and marketing initiatives. The Communications and Marketing Manager will lead:

  • Development and execution of marketing and communications strategies for internal and external audiences.
  • Creation and oversight of marketing plans, including website development, social and digital media platforms, and initiative-specific campaigns.
  • Public relations initiatives, acting as the organization’s primary spokesperson and fostering media relationships.
  • Oversight of External Relations metrics reporting and analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Management of external agencies and contractors, ensuring a diverse and inclusive approach to procurement.
  • Providing direction and leadership to the Communications and Marketing Coordinator and the Digital Engagement and Analytics Coordinator.
  • Collaboration with leadership and internal teams to provide direction, advice, and strategic insight on communications related projects.
  • Budget planning and management for marketing and communications activities.

The Communications and Marketing Manager is someone who:

  • Has a post-secondary education in marketing and communications, plus a minimum of five years' experience leading successful marketing and communications strategies and initiatives, including media relations, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Has a flexible work schedule, allowing for some evening and weekend work depending on current events and media opportunities.
  • Possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills and a customer service mindset.
  • Is a confident public speaker and corporate spokesperson, with experience in media relations.
  • Has a proven ability to build and lead diverse teams, including internal employees and external contractors.
  • Understands and is committed to Truth and Reconciliation, with awareness of The Forks' historical significance and the history of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.
  • Has strong budgeting and financial planning skills.
  • Thrives in a collaborative, innovative, and community-driven workplace.
