Job description

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will work with the External Relations team and all other departments, including operations and events, to support the communications and marketing efforts of The Forks North Portage sites. This person will be the connection between our brand and our audiences, ensuring that our messaging is clear, engaging, and aligned with the organization’s mission. The Communications and Marketing Coordinator will lead:

  • Developing and executing internal and external marketing and communications plans alongside the External Relations team.
  • Managing all owned media channels, including social media, website, email newsletters, and digital content to maintain a visitor-first approach.
  • Creating engaging content, such as media releases, blog posts, web content, social media posts, and presentations.
  • Acting as the primary liaison with external creative agencies and contractors for graphic design, photography, videography, printing, and signage.
  • Supporting brand stewardship by ensuring adherence to brand guidelines, including for vendors, partners, sponsors, and tenants.
  • Working closely with tenants and partners on joint marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Providing direction and leadership to the Content Support role.
  • Assisting with media relations, including responding to basic media inquiries and conducting interviews about site programs and events.

The Communications and Marketing Coordinator is someone who:

  • Has a post-secondary education and 2-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, business, or a related field.
  • Understands communications and marketing principles and can apply them with a visitor experience/hospitality mindset.
  • Has a strong ability to write for different audiences, ensuring consistency in brand tone and messaging.
  • Possesses knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing tools, with experience in engagement strategies.
  • Has a good understanding of basic media relations, photography, and design skills.
  • Has a keen ability to identify and tell compelling stories while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, is adaptable, and can easily shift between corporate communications, media relations, and marketing.
  • Has a flexible work schedule, allowing for some evening and weekend work depending on current events and media opportunities.
