This role

As our Communications and Content Lead, you'll be working with a content team and our VP, Marketing and will be instrumental in shaping and leading our PR, communications, and content function in Canada. You will lead a team and execute strategies that establish Employment Hero as the authority on employment through our PR, communications, and content channels. You will help us transform our business from SaaS to Employment As A Service (EMPASS) and increase our velocity towards our Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG).

The ideal candidate is an experienced PR, communications, & content expert with proven experience leading PR and content teams in fast paced, high-growth environments. This role forms part of our Canada Marketing leadership team and our Global PR, Communications, and Content Team. It reports to the VP of Marketing in the Canada with a dotted line to the Global Head of PR, Comms, and Content.

Your key focus areas will be:

  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive PR, Communications, and Content strategies that make Employment Hero famous in Canada and aligns to Go-To-Market plans and activities
  • Leadership: Lead a PR, Comms, and Content team inspiring them to think big and push boundaries. Work collaboratively across the global marketing function to support wider team objectives and be a local leader in the Canadian business.
  • Executive Profile Building: You'll proactively create media opportunities for the company and regional executives to comment on relevant industry topics, trends and competitive stories
  • Data driven approach: Your approach should utilise our first party data to establish Employment Hero as the Canadian authority on Employment.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor, analyse, and report on performance, identify areas for improvement and share our progress with the business regularly.
  • Content Planning and Execution: Work collaboratively with a global newsroom to use our data and expertise to tell employment stories like no one can. Deliver content to drive SEO, the GTM funnel, and outcomes across the wider business.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay up-to-date with trends, tools, and best practices to ensure our strategies are innovative and effective. Keep Employment Hero a leader in conversations around employment in Canada.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the UK Leadership Team, wider marketing team and other stakeholders from across the business to ensure alignment across the business
  • SEO: Drive SEO through content creation as well as backlinks within stories and story placements or collaborative content.
  • Execution: Own the plan, ensuring the entire squad executes effectively and efficiently across PR, Comms, and Content


Who You Are

To thrive at Humi, you'll need to embody The EH Way - operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you'll also bring:

  • A proven track record leading and executing PR, Comms, and Content teams in an agency or in-house agency marketing/media environment.
  • 10+ years in high-paced marketing environments focused on PR and Content. Tech or fintech experience a bonus
  • 4+ years experience running a high-performing team.
  • Proven experience driving PR around complex topics related to policy.
  • Excellent writing, editorial, grammar and verbal communication skills
  • Strong media contacts in the Canadian market
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and to build editorial stories
  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, and proactive in driving initiatives to success
  • Comfort using AI in your day to day and scaling work and impact through AI.
  • Strong organisational skills with a keen attention to detail. Adaptability and resilience in handling changing priorities
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to build long-term plans while responding to the needs of the business.
  • Experience driving SEO through PR.
