Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of experience in commodity risk management, preferably in oil/energy.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ETRM systems are assets.

We are seeking aCommodity Risk Specialistto join our growing team inCalgary, Alberta.This dynamic role will be instrumental to support a dynamic and growing marketing business in North America within a global framework including Beijing, Singapore and London offices among others. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Credit & Contracts, Risk Management & Insurance, this position is responsible for measurement, oversight and reporting of commodity risk exposure, implementing sound risk management principles, and rationalizing commodity prices in support of the North America marketing business.

Your Background
  • 5 – 10 years experience in a commodity risk management or related role, preferably in the oil/energy industry. Having or working towards a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Professional Risk Manager (PRM) or other relevant designation would be considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with focus on analytics and problem solving. Advanced skills in Excel and other relevant business applications.
  • Experience with Right Angle trade capture or other ETRM system is an asset.
Your Role with Our Team
  • Collaborate with Front, Middle and Back office stakeholders to ensure accurate valuation, oversight and reporting of commodity transactions.
  • Develop and assist with implementation of fit for purpose pricing and valuation models in markets where CNOOC transacts.
  • Validate Marketing transactions for accuracy, completeness and market based prices.
  • Formulate and report risk exposures (i.e.; positions, mark to market and change drivers, stress testing)
  • Assist with development and maintenance of fit for purpose portfolio signals and limits.
  • Provide independent and accurate valuations of physical and financial positions, mark to market exposure and performance data.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis as required on current and future pricing. Identify trends that may impact business objectives or present opportunity.
  • Analyze internal and external market data to rationalize commodity price movements and their drivers.
  • Ensure Marketing compliance with global and regional standards, policies, procedures and program approvals.
