Job description

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon emissions and replace cars.

Could you be the full-time Buyer in Toronto we’re looking for?

Your future role:

Take on a new challenge and apply your Procurement expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll report to our Procurement Project Manager in Toronto, ON, and collaborate with strong analytical and team-oriented colleagues.

You will develop and implement the Procurement strategy to ensure optimal cost productivity. Daily, you’ll work closely with teams across Engineering, Project, Bid, and Technical Managers, as well as various stakeholders, to prepare tender procurement commitments and more.

You’ll specifically manage the collection and formalization of Return of Experience on projects deployed in the region, challenge commodity buyers and managers to increase competitiveness, and ensure convergence of commodity strategies with tenders.

We’re looking for you to:

  • Manage Procurement for Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People commitments into Tender
  • Lead Prebid agreements during the tender phase when advantageous
  • Proactively cooperate with Engineering to ensure “Design to Cost”
  • Consolidate procurement commitments during the tender phase, including actualization and firming calculations
  • Build realistic, competitive, and timely tender cost commitments

About you:

We value passion and attitude over experience. While we don’t expect you to have every skill, we believe these will help you succeed and grow in this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Purchasing or a related field
  • Proven experience and understanding of the procurement process
  • Previous experience with Alstom is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of electrical materials, equipment, SCADA, and infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Excel
  • Knowledge of a second language is preferred

What you’ll enjoy:

Join us on a transformative journey in the rail industry, which offers growth and skill development opportunities. You will also:

  • Experience stability, challenges, and a long-term career path
  • Work within the GO Expansion scope, including electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications, digital systems, and maintenance
  • Collaborate with diverse teams and helpful colleagues
  • Steer your career across functions and countries
  • Benefit from our investment in your development through award-winning learning programs
  • Enjoy a fair and dynamic reward package with comprehensive social benefits

You don’t need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with friends or family, you’ll be proud. If you’re up for the challenge, we’d love to hear from you!

Important to note:

As a global business, we’re an equal-opportunity employer that celebrates diversity across 63 countries. We’re committed to creating an inclusive workplace for everyone.
