Commissioning Manager – Electrical Utilities Substations
The Commissioning Manager for Electrical Utilities is responsible for managing a highly skilled protections & controls and SCADA commissioning team. As the technical expert in the team, he/she will oversee the entire commissioning process of power system protection & control schemes and SCADA systems within the utilities division. The role entails managing the team, reviewing requirements for every project, delegating tasks, be involved with all aspects of the testing and commissioning process and ensuring compliance with all safety standards.
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institute, and 5+ years experience leading a commissioning team in the electrical utilities industry. What will you be doing as a Commissioning Manager
Manage and lead the Protection & Control and SCADA commissioning team
Experience testing and commissioning high voltage power systems equipment including but not limited to: Power transformers, circuit breakers, switchgear, protection relays and SCADA systems
Read and interpret engineering drawings and troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Familiarity with different types of protection relays from GE, SEL, Siemens, and ABB.
Familiarity with different electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, power analyzers, Omicron, Doble, Megger, and more
Train and develop employees to latest industry and client standards
Develop commissioning execution test plans and work procedures
Ensure compliance with all Spark, client and industry safety practices
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and attention to detail are essential
Initiate and/or respond to customer inquiries, discuss trouble details and confirm resolutions.

The successful candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Electrician Journeyman Ticket, or an Electrical Engineering Technologist Diploma from a recognized institute
5+ years' experience leading a commissioning team in the electrical utilities industry
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and an extreme attention to detail are essential
Knowledge of the Microsoft office software suite of programs coupled with strong computer skills
Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage a wide variety of issues simultaneously
Strong analytical, risk assessment and problem-solving skills
Ability to work for extended periods out of town
Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Background checks and Drug and Alcohol Pre-Access Testing will be required as part of employment
