Job Description

Marine Resources is currently recruiting for an Aftersales & Technician for a full-time permanent opportunity in Hamble, Southampton. Key skills include:

  • A passion for boats
  • Diagnostics and repairs
  • Confident boat handling, both power and sail

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Commissioning new boats in the UK and Europe, ensuring high standards of workmanship and customer experience.
  2. Arrival checks: unwrapping the boat, detailed checks against factory specifications, fitting loose equipment, and reporting shortfalls and warranty defects.
  3. Operational testing of onboard systems: plumbing, electrical, navigation, engines, gensets, and mechanical systems.
  4. Onboard contractor oversight, ensuring work meets high standards.
  5. Documentation: recording defects with technical summaries and photographs, updating via reporting app, and following through to resolution.
  6. Sea trials to test systems and sails underway.
  7. Handover to clients, including systems demonstration and sea trial, with complete documentation.
  8. Aftersales support: providing technical support and repairs.
  9. Owner/crew support: refresher training and boat handling.
  10. Warranty work: diagnostics and repairs across the UK and Europe, with technical evidence and photographs for warranty claims.
  11. Annual inspections as per factory protocols to maintain warranty.
  12. General duties: assisting with departmental functions, maintaining good housekeeping.

All work must comply with the company's Health & Safety policy.

Candidate specifications:

  • Recent and relevant experience in the leisure marine industry.
  • Proficient boat handling skills, ideally motor and sail.
  • RYA qualifications are advantageous.
  • Boat building skills/qualifications are desirable.
  • Keen eye for detail and understanding of modern boat systems, electrical fault finding, and digital switching.
  • Strong initiative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid UK driver’s license.
