Job Description and Key Responsibilities
  • Independently lead and manage Building Mechanical, Electrical and Controls commissioning projects from award to turnover to client.
  • Support reviews of design documents, drawings, specifications, building control sequences and equipment submittals to verify owner’s project requirements are met.
  • Work closely with senior staff and proposal writer to estimate professional commissioning fees, proposals and pre-qualification submissions.
  • Work closely with contract commissioning agents as needed for electrical & controls commissioning.
  • Work with Vancouver in-house commissioning agent (if applicable).
  • Excellent understanding of LEED projects and commissioning requirements.
  • Generate all Cx documentation: commissioning plans, commissioning specifications and commissioning reports using company templates and standards.
  • Submission of required documentation to Commissioning Coordinator assigned by General Contractor or Owner.
  • Project Site Verification Visits / meetings per the commissioning schedule or client request.
  • Working with mechanical trades to have all subcontractor checklists completed as required.
  • Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of building automation systems (BAS) to collect trend data, test room controls and analyze system and facility performance.
  • Perform and document integrated system tests for mission critical facilities, including power failure testing and redundant ventilation systems for laboratory facilities.
  • Generate and maintain Commissioning Issues Reports with a focus on expediting issues to resolution.
  • Familiar with the requirements of Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning.
  • Witness end of project functional checks.
  • Creation of electronic manual for submission through Facility Grid.
  • Follow Up site visits 8 months after project turnover.
  • 1 year warranty visits (seasonal checks).
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 5-7 years Experience commissioning commercial & institutional projects.
  • Certification as a Building Commissioning Professional (ASHRAE) or a Certified Commissioning Professional (BCA) or working towards a definite asset.
  • Demonstrates exceptional oral and written communication and project management skills.
  • Well-developed technical competencies in full MEP - Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and building automation systems.
  • Knowledge of Facility Grid software a definite asset.
