Recruitment Consultant - Finance & Accounting Specialist

Role: Property Accountant

Role Type: Full-time, permanent opportunity. Hybrid work model with four days per week in-office.

Compensation Package: $70,000–$75,000 base salary + comprehensive benefits + paid overtime + 5% RRSP matching + 3 weeks vacation

Location: Toronto, ON

Your New Role

As a Property Accountant, you will play a key role in the financial operations of the real estate portfolio. Reporting to the Manager of Property Accounting, you will collaborate with internal teams across finance, operations, development, and lease administration to ensure accurate reporting and analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly financial reports and variance analyses for property-level performance.
• Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Prepare and review journal entries to support financial integrity and internal controls.
• Coordinate with lease administration to ensure accurate lease data and rent escalations.
• Manage tenant recovery setups and straight-line rent schedules.
• Process CAM and tax adjustments and support tenant billing communications.
• Assist with internal and external audit processes by providing required documentation.
• Contribute to the preparation and consolidation of property budgets and forecasts.
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

• A university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience (experience in real estate or REITs is a strong asset).
• CPA designation or active pursuit of the designation.
• Familiarity with property management accounting systems (experience with Yardi is an advantage).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
