POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for: (a) administering and managing the bank’s portfolio of commercial loans; (b) partnering with lenders in managing their loan relationships; (c) completing analytical reports and ongoing credit management support to meet the needs of the existing customer base as well as to satisfy proper credit risk management and regulatory requirements; (d) assisting lenders and other commercial lending staff as needed, coordinating loan closings for both new loans and renewals, and acting as a backup to lenders on assigned customer origination situations; and (e) supporting the Bank products and services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Portfolio Management/Loan Officer Support: Gathers customer financial and general business information when due. Works with the commercial lending staff as needed to research, process, and provide general assistance in order to complete loan applications according to established procedures. Accompany loan officers during sales calls to work with them on the details and implementation of new loans. Will provide backup customer support as assigned on sales calls and will frequently make independent sales calls as assigned. Depending on size and complexity of an issue/loan, the incumbent will exercise independent judgment concerning sales and support operations or seek advice and direction from the Chief Commercial Banking Officer.
  2. Coordinates with the Credit Analyst on new loan requests and performs in-depth financial analysis on the renewal and periodic reviews (both annual and quarterly) of existing customers as required by policy. Manages the existing loan portfolio to ensure complete conformity with terms and adequacy of documentation including the monitoring of customers to assure they are adhering to loan covenants (when applicable). Maintain current and accurate risk ratings and prepare file comments to the credit file to ensure information remains valid and current.
  3. Work with loan officers as necessary to obtain information; prepare/organize credit files; work with appropriate staff members to pull credit reports, OFACS, and flood certifications as needed; and coordinate receipt of appraisals and environmental reports. Help the lenders to compile application documentation and when complete, forward to the Credit Analyst for underwriting. Work with the Credit Analyst to assist in the spreading of financial statements.
  4. Closing Loans: Works with commercial loan processing staff in coordinating some aspects of the loan closing process. May at times include: ordering title work, preparing commitment letters or term sheets, reviewing documents for accuracy and exceptions, preparing closing statements (including calling for payoffs and prorations), speaking with brokers and attorneys, and following-up to ensure completion as necessary.
  5. Loan/account maintenance: General duties may include ongoing monitoring of construction loans, building and maintaining of loan and credit files, supporting the Loan Officers in clearing exceptions, completing bank credit inquiries, and following up with customers for financial statements and tax returns.
  6. Report production: Assist in the preparation of lending reports as required.
  7. Customer service: Respond to lenders, customers, attorneys, and other inquiries concerning products or application status. Provide prompt, courteous service to customers including general research, billing inquiries, and debiting/crediting/transferring money from lines of credit, DDA, savings, etc. Refer prospective customers to loan officers or other Bank staff members as appropriate; refer problems and complaints to the appropriate Manager.
  8. Support Bank products/services: Maintain knowledge of current KSB products and services. Actively utilize as many Bank products and services as possible in order to fully understand their features and benefits and to be able to communicate effectively with customers and prospective customers.
  9. When talking to customers and prospects, listen for “cues and clues” to determine needs; respond to customer inquiries and evaluate their needs; suggest Bank products/services to customers to meet their needs or make referrals to other Bank personnel as appropriate.
  10. Community/public relations: Actively participate in civic and community organizations and events to promote the growth and development of the communities we serve. Represent the Bank with a positive image.
  11. Other duties: Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality. Handle telephone inquiries and provide information to customers, vendors and other departments in a professional and courteous manner. Attend and participate in Bank meetings. Attend internal and external training to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the position.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Accounting or other relevant area, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years' commercial banking experience, or other relevant experience.
  • Computer literate, with experience in bank platform software (such as Fiserv or equivalent Bank software); proficient in Microsoft Office; and experience with loan spreading software such as Moody’s, Baker Hill or Sageworks is desirable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift files and other documents of approximately 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to spend extended periods of time operating a computer.
  • Must be able use the telephone to converse with customers; must be able to communicate clearly by telephone; must have good listening ability and skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize and organize work flow; must have good attention to detail; must be able to handle multiple jobs.
  • Must have the ability to think through a problem, following proper steps in finding resolution.
  • Must have a high degree of ethics and maintain confidentiality of customers and accounts.
  • Must be friendly, courteous and sensitive to the needs of customers and coworkers.
