ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

The Facilities Management Commercial Manager (Commercial Manager) is responsible for participating as part of various teams within Black & McDonald's Facility Services business, focusing primarily on Facilities Management (FM) across the country. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, this is a progressive role suited for an experienced FM operations professional with opportunities for growth, advancement, and influence. The individual will contribute to the team’s success and evolving capabilities, supporting the growth of our Facility Services business through learning and applying their current experience and knowledge. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Commercial Review: Leading or supporting the review, assessment, and advisement on pursuits, bids, and opportunities, including RFx and contractual documents from a commercial and operational perspective.
  2. Estimating: Leading or supporting estimating activities on pursuits, bids, and opportunities, including development of service delivery models, staffing, and subcontractors.
  3. Operational Support: Using technical expertise to review and develop solutions, advising the bid team and FM Operations on risk, strategy, and contract development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Service Delivery Model Development: Design robust commercial service delivery models for pursuits, focusing on contract structure, staffing, scheduling, subcontracting, and innovative approaches, aligning with strategic and financial goals.
  2. Pricing Estimation & Financial Modeling: Lead contract pricing, develop detailed projections for labour, materials, and overhead costs, and ensure pricing strategies are competitive and financially sound.
  3. Contractual Review & Risk Management: Review contractual terms, identify and mitigate risks, and collaborate with legal counsel to ensure compliance and alignment with industry standards.
  4. Technical and Commercial Alignment: Work with Proposal Managers to integrate commercial and technical aspects into proposals, ensuring cohesive and compelling submissions.
  5. Support to Negotiations & Client Engagement: Assist in contract negotiations and client discussions, building strong relationships and presenting commercial strategies confidently.
  6. Industry Knowledge & Compliance: Stay informed on industry regulations, trends, and competitor activities, adjusting strategies accordingly.
  7. Continuous Improvement & Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive process improvements, facilitate cross-team communication, and support pursuit activities including site visits, bid reviews, and presentations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE :

  1. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree (MBA, MSc) is an asset. FM designations (e.g., FMA, FMP, C.E.T.) are preferred but not mandatory.
  2. Experience: 7+ years in commercial, operations, or business development roles within facilities management, property management, engineering, construction, or similar industries. Proven success in developing service delivery models and pricing strategies for complex contracts. Strong background in contract structures, risk assessment, and negotiation.
  3. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of facilities management services, including hard and soft services, and specialized support services, along with familiarity with union agreements, compliance standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  4. Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, Excel proficiency, strong communication and presentation abilities, collaborative mindset, and proactive attitude suited for a fast-paced environment.
