Job summary

Systech in Montreal is seeking a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial team on major infrastructure projects in Canada. The role requires fluency in French and the ability to work in Canada on a 6:1 rotation.

You will develop commercial processes, manage contracts, and mentor staff while engaging with clients and main contractors in a consultancy setting.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ major infrastructure experience.
• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying (2:1 or higher preferred).
• Fluent in written and spoken French and able to work in Canada.
• MRICS membership preferred.
• Experience leading commercial teams on major infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams on major construction projects.
• Take responsibility for a project’s commercial performance.
• Develop commercial strategies and lead on contractual negotiations.
• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the contract.
• Management accounts preparation and liaison with senior management.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract.
• Procurement experience on large value contracts.
• Experience of claims preparation and dispute avoidance/resolution.
• Assist in business development.

Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to be based in Montreal, Canada. The role will require you to be fluent in written and spoken French and able to work in Canada on a 6:1 rotation

As a Commercial Manager you will provide leadership to the commercial team, establishing commercial processes and procedures alongside major main contractors.

You will have a proven ability to lead and mentor a team, implementing new procedures and strategies alongside a history in a senior commercial position on major infrastructure projects.

This is a consultancy role and you must therefore be able to demonstrate an ability to work effectively in a client facing environment.

• Minimum of 10 years’ major infrastructure experience
• Major transport project experience
• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying (or similar, a 2:1 or higher preferred)
• A Member of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (preferred)
• Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
• Presentable and articulate
• Excellent organiser with proven time management skills
• Fluent in written and spoken French
