Job description
About The Role

We’re seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial Practice Leader for the Manufacturing Industry to launch and grow a new vertical focused on serving manufacturing clients across Ontario. This is a high-impact sales leadership role for an insurance professional with deep knowledge of the manufacturing sector and a proven track record in business development.

Reporting to senior leadership, the Practice Leader will be responsible for building HUB’s manufacturing vertical from the ground up — setting the strategy, developing market presence, acquiring new clients, and positioning HUB as a go-to partner for risk and insurance solutions in the manufacturing industry.

What You’ll Do

Growth & Business Development :

  • Develop and execute a go-to-market strategy to grow HUB’s footprint in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proactively identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with manufacturers of all sizes, with a focus on mid-market and large enterprises.
  • Cultivate a robust pipeline of manufacturing clients across various sub-sectors, including industrial production, supply chain logistics, advanced manufacturing, and food and beverage processing.
  • Lead the vertical’s sales efforts, in collaboration with regional producers and account executives.

Vertical Strategy & Leadership :

  • Build and articulate HUB’s value proposition for manufacturing clients, including customized insurance programs, risk transfer solutions, and risk mitigation services.
  • Serve as the internal and external face of the manufacturing practice, promoting HUB’s expertise at industry events, client forums, and conferences.
  • Identify market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes to refine the vertical’s sales approach and offerings.

Collaboration & Enablement :

  • Partner with producers and client service teams across HUB’s regions to support manufacturing-related opportunities and provide technical sales support.
  • Collaborate with carriers and underwriters to develop innovative insurance solutions tailored to the sector.
  • Establish processes and tools to scale the vertical as it grows (e.g., sales materials, prospecting tools, thought leadership).

Qualifications and expertise that pave the way for Success

  • 7–10+ years of commercial insurance experience, with a strong focus on sales and client acquisition.
  • RIBO Licensed or ability to obtain in short order.
  • Proven success in building or expanding a vertical or industry segment — ideally in a brokerage or consulting environment.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing industry risks, exposures, and insurance solutions (e.g., property, product recall, business interruption, cyber, trade credit).
  • Strong market relationships and ability to open doors with key manufacturing accounts.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to build something from the ground up.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; CIP, CRM, or other relevant designations preferred.
