Qualifications

• 5+ years of Commercial or Commercial and Personal Lines insurance experience.
• General Insurance Agent Level 2 license required.
• Experience using the EPIC broker management system is an asset.

Responsibilities

As a Commercial Underwriter a typical day might include:

• Reviewing underwriting details for new and existing accounts against various binding
• authorities
• Attending marketing and insurer meetings to gain knowledge of market conditions and
• competitors
• Creating rate sheets in compliance with binding authorities and refers risks as needed to various
• markets in accordance with those authorities
• Quoting new and renewal terms to Account Executives and Account Managers
• Ensuring Axis’ policies and procedures are compliant with various binding authorities
• Reviewing and submits monthly bordereaux for each of the binding authorities
• Participating s in audits of various binding authorities
• Engaging in new and renewal negotiations for various binding authorities
• Issuing policy documents in compliance with various binding authorities, as required.
• Adhering to department targets
• Monitoring the profitability of the different authorities
• Adhering to Claims administration as per the binding authorities
• Participating in internal and external networking opportunities
• Supporting technology initiatives, optimization, and adoption
• Serving as peer review on referrals going to insurer partners

Must haves:

• 5+ years Commercial or Commercial and Personal Lines insurance experience (experience in both considered an asset)
• General Insurance Agent Level 2 license through the Insurance Council of British Columbia or an equivalent license in the individual’s province of residence, with the ability to obtain a British Columbia license
• CAIB, CIP, CRM, or other insurance designations considered an asset
• Post Secondary degree considered asset
• Experience using EPIC broker management system an asset
