What you will do:

  1. Our Commercial Lending Directors are the face of driving the growth of our relationship banking model for our commercial team - you'll grow an active portfolio, work with brokers and bring on new business across commercial lending customers.
  2. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Commercial Lending Director within the South West to form a key part of our successful Regional Commercial team.
  3. Develop and maintain active and influential business relationships with key SME market professionals, clients and customers as Metro Bank’s external face to the commercial market.
  4. Manage risk, including Credit, Operational and Regulatory.
  5. Partner with key internal colleagues, stakeholders and teams, to deliver required propositions and pricing requirements, risk policies, with reporting set and managed within appetites.
  6. Working closely with the Commercial Lending Specialists and Commercial Analysts, providing support where needed to ensure timely and customer focused lending fulfilment.
  7. Be a role model for the Regional Commercial Team and Metro Bank when working with customers, intermediaries, and colleagues – champion and value our relationship-based approach!

What you will need:

  1. A proven track record of commercial lending within commercial banking environments, ideally having worked in a similar role, or step up role within financial services.
  2. A clear track record of business origination and lending to medium and large SMEs, with excellent credit application/underwriting/credit writing skills.
  3. Successful at building, maintaining and growing valuable commercial banking relationships and experience converting leads.
  4. Ability to promote the Metro Bank story to new customers, creating new FANS.
  5. Excellent negotiation skills with an ability to interact and influence senior/executive management internally and externally.
  6. Extensive knowledge of different industries and sectors and how these perform both financially and structurally with high levels of experience and intuition in decision making.
  7. Experienced in credit writing, financial analysis and report writing for customers with complex needs.
