Base pay range

CA$65,000.00 / yr - CA$75,000.00 / yr

OpTalent is proud to partner with an award-winning design studio known for its bold, sophisticated interiors and boundary-pushing creativity. We’re on the lookout for an Intermediate Designer who brings a high level of design talent, technical skill, and team leadership to the table.

This role is perfect for a designer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced studio environment—someone who is passionate about crafting exceptional spaces and confident managing smaller projects while contributing to larger ones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of smaller-scale interior design projects from concept to completion
  • Contribute to mid- and large-scale projects in collaboration with senior design leads
  • Develop mood boards, FF&E selections, elevations, and perspective visuals
  • Create and deliver compelling digital and physical presentation packages
  • Assist in presenting concepts to clients with clarity and creativity

Technical Execution

  • Produce detailed drawing sets including floor plans, RCPs, millwork, and custom furniture
  • Ensure design intent is accurately translated into construction documentation
  • Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and suppliers throughout all phases
  • Apply knowledge of building codes and regulatory requirements to all documentation
  • Revise drawings based on internal redlines and project updates
  • Project Support

  • Support the tendering and construction phases through documentation and on-site reviews
  • Attend site visits to review installation and address deficiencies
  • Draft addendums and supplementary instructions as needed
  • Keep internal stakeholders informed of scope or schedule changes
  • Mentor junior team members and support intern development
  • Offer constructive feedback to foster team growth and project success
  • Participate in design charrettes and brainstorming sessions
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive studio culture through leadership and collaboration
  • What You Bring

    Experience & Education

  • 4+ years of experience in interior design with a focus on hospitality, retail, or residential sectors
  • Degree or diploma in Interior Design from a recognized institution
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, conceptual strength, and execution across project phases
  • Familiarity with construction documentation and detailing
  • Knowledge of Ontario Building Code (or other regional codes, as applicable)
  • Technical Proficiency

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of Revit is a strong asset
  • Skilled in Photoshop, InDesign, and SketchUp
  • Experience with Enscape, Illustrator, or Ambient Occlusion is a bonus
