Job summary

Intact is seeking a Commercial Field Adjuster, Property Large Loss to join our growing team. You will handle large, complex commercial property claims and coordinate with internal and external experts to determine coverage, liability and damages.

You will mentor colleagues, train on complex claims handling, and collaborate with underwriting and risk teams to identify trends while delivering strong service to brokers and clients.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with the direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant field experience, including on-site investigations and assessing property damages.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
  • Undergraduate Degree or CIP designation (asset).
  • Travel required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate and resolve large and complex commercial property claims generally with exposures over $1M.
  • Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability and assess damages.
  • Mentor, guide and provide technical advice to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long term succession planning.
  • Train colleagues on complex claims handling.
  • Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned.
  • Provide brilliant customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues.
  • Deliver all key performance indicators related to loss development and loss adjustment expenses.

Salary Range (but Not Limited To)

118,700 - 145,100

Annual Bonus Target, Based On The Base Salary, With a Potential Payout Of Up To Double The Target (subject To Personal And Company Performance)

About The Role

We’re looking for a Commercial Field Adjuster, Property Large Loss to join our growing team!

As a Commercial Field Adjuster on our Property Large Loss team, you will handle large and complex commercial property claims through all distribution channels. The types of losses may include Commercial Property, Energy, Equipment Breakdown, and additional Specialty Claims.

What You’ll Do Here
  • Manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate and resolve large and complex commercial property claims generally with exposures over $1M or involving specialized kind of loss
  • Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability and assess damages
  • Mentor, guide and provide technical advice to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long term succession planning
  • Train colleagues on complex claims handling
  • Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned
  • Provide brilliant customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues
  • Deliver all key performance indicators as it relates to loss development and loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control and expense management
  • Leverage your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operations
  • Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate
  • Attend settlement conferences and trials
What You Bring To The Table
