Job summary

Arcadis is seeking an experienced commercial diver to support underwater inspection and construction verification activities on Vancouver marine infrastructure and BC coast projects. The role involves on-site diving, recording evidence for engineers, and working within a certified dive team under a planned dive regime.

Qualifications

• Valid commercial diving certification recognised in Canada (CSA Z275.4 or equivalent).
• Minimum 12 years of commercial diving experience on marine civils, ports or coastal works.
• Current diver medical certificate and first aid/oxygen admin certification.
• Experience with underwater inspection and reporting of marine structures with video/photo documentation.
• Knowledge of WorkSafeBC Part 24 Diving Operations and CSA Z275.2 requirements.
• Experience with surface supplied diving equipment, communications, and underwater tools including hydraulic/pneumatic equipment, cutting/welding, NDT like ultrasonic thickness measurement.
• Experience in cold water, tidal current and low visibility conditions on BC coast.
• Ability to work as part of a certified dive team under an approved dive plan.
• Small vessel operator, marine radio operator certificate and marine safety training (MED) are assets.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out underwater inspection of marine structures and seabed, assess pile/sheet pile condition, coating, corrosion, welds and concrete condition.
• Record findings via underwater video, photos, sketches, measurements, and thickness readings; deliver clear dive reports.
• Support marine construction through underwater placement verification, rigging/derigging, guide/template positioning, and debris removal.
• Contribute to dive planning and risk assessments, review tidal windows, currents, visibility, vessel traffic, exclusion zones, and lockout arrangements.
