Role Overview

Facilitates decisioning and analysis of all types of credit information to support lending decisions and processes for the bank. Maintains and promotes a client service environment to satisfy and exceed customer needs and expectations. This role will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Identifies new sales opportunities for prospects and existing commercial clients through analysis.
  2. May participate in on-site client visits with other internal stakeholders.
  3. Maintains and promotes a customer service environment which meets and exceeds customer needs and expectations.
  4. Recommends credit according to sound credit-granting principles.
  5. Exercises individually held Commercial unilateral discretionary limits and any held prescribed approval discretionary limits.
  6. Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Evaluates clients’ ability to repay loans and consults on loan structure and collateral.
  8. Identifies trends in client activities which may be predictive of deteriorating credit quality.
  9. Performs periodic reviews of credit where more frequent monitoring may be appropriate.
  10. Understands borrower types typical in the high net worth market and their relation to collateral ownership, loan repayment, loan structure, etc.
  11. Grants loan requests within specified limits, using understanding of credit scoring and risk management concepts.
  12. Monitors covenants of clients within assigned portfolio to identify deteriorating credit conditions and compliance with loan agreement.
  13. Provides accurate financial analysis and risk assessment of new and existing customers.
  14. Partners with internal stakeholders for accurate, detailed client information.
  15. Develops credit information to make lending decisions on new, renewal and extension loans.
  16. Assists in negotiations of terms and conditions of all decisions made via phone and e-mail interaction with clients.
  17. Prepares summary, present facts and offer opinions concerning credit worthiness.
  18. Minimizes BMO’s risk exposure by adhering to internal credit policies and procedures with respect to lending decisions.
  19. Provides input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  20. Builds effective relationships with internal / external stakeholders.
  21. Focus is primarily on business / group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  22. Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  23. Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
Qualifications
  • Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and / or business experience.

Salary: $53,200.00 - $98,300.00

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
