Job summary

Canadian Solar, a leading solar technology company with a global footprint, seeks a commercial lawyer to support the parent company and more than 20 country subsidiaries. Hybrid work options are available; the role is based in the Greater Toronto Area with home office in Kitchener, Ontario.

The ideal candidate has 3–8 years of corporate/commercial experience, is licensed to practice law, and excels in drafting and negotiating complex contracts across financing, procurement, IT, and project

Qualifications

• 3-8 years of corporate/commercial experience; renewable energy or manufacturing experience a plus.
• Must be licensed to practice law in your jurisdiction of residence.
• Strong drafting skills and experience negotiating complex commercial contracts as part of a deal team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with sales representatives and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements (e.g., lender facilities, intercompany services, procurement and IT contracts, parent company guarantees).
• Advise on contract disputes, claims, and resolutions while preserving business relationships.
• Provide day-to-day legal support to parent company and global subsidiary operations.
• Manage legal risks and mitigation strategies related to product liability, IP, tariffs, cross-border sales.
• Coordinate with regional legal teams and external counsel as needed to balance costs with business goals.
