Position:
Commercial Coordinator
Description:
The Commercial Coordinator will support Project Managers in delivering projects of varying complexity, focusing on selecting, contracting, managing, and coordinating subcontractors and suppliers. Acting as a key liaison between stakeholders, this role will oversee document control, maintain project databases, and track activities to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development and enhancement of project plans, templates, tools, and document management systems.
- Assist the Project Management team with RFP preparation, bid evaluation, contractor selection, and creation of detailed scopes of work.
- Support the review and negotiation of commercial terms with subcontractors.
- Coordinate the review of contractor submittals, RFIs, supplemental design instructions, and drawing logs.
- Ensure contractor compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and material management requirements.
- Support contract execution by:
- Reviewing and assessing change requests and managing change documentation.
- Analyzing contractor estimates, costs, and payment claims.
- Monitoring contractor performance against budget and schedule.
- Assisting with claims and dispute management.
- Contribute to project controls including cost reporting, scheduling, WBS development, project set-up/closeout, and field progress tracking.
- Prepare internal and external reports, including budgets, cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and status updates.
- Participate in project risk reviews and consult with internal stakeholders as needed.
- Manage contract and project closeout documentation.
- Promote and uphold organizational safety programs, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the commercial management of construction contractors.
- Experience in the power transmission and distribution industry is considered an asset.
