We are financially solvent developers who have committed to a major office-to-residential conversion project of a significant and beautiful building in a great location in downtown Calgary.

We require the services of a Senior Construction Manager to oversee and direct the project to completion.

Job brief:

In this role, you will be responsible for planning this major construction project and overseeing its progress in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Your key responsibilities will include budgeting support, planning, organization, implementation, and scheduling in a cost-effective manner.

As the Construction Manager, you will collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure a smooth project execution.

With your keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, you will ensure that all construction activities align with the established timeline and budget.

Your expertise in project management will be crucial in coordinating resources, resolving any issues that may arise, and delivering a successful conversion project.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct the project to completion.
  • Heading a team of top-notch architects, mechanical, electrical and structural engineers.
  • Working with the ownership (family) to determine the most advantageous method to solve the issues that come up.
  • Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables.
  • Oversee all onsite and offsite construction to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors.
  • Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory.
  • Review the work progress on daily basis.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status.
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones.
  • Analyse, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
  • Work with our purchasing department in negotiating and drafting of contracts and purchase orders.

Requirements and Skills

  • Reside full-time in the Calgary area.
  • Proven working experience in construction management.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.
  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
  • Understanding of all facets of the construction process.
  • Ability to plan and see the "big picture".
  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.
  • Leadership and human resources management skills.
  • Excellent time and project management skills.
