What this role is all about :

The Commercial Account Manager supports Beem’s vision of promoting financial wellness for all by developing valuable long-term relationships with members, proactively determining & fulfilling their commercial credit needs, and ensuring verification of secure documentation. Through strong communication and sales leadership, this position will develop, pursue, and proactively manage assigned accounts, referral opportunities, and external business opportunities. The incumbent will grant loans to finance commercial activity and promote lending products & deposit services.

The successful candidate must have reliable access to a vehicle and be able to commute to Beem Credit Union branches and other locations throughout the Okanagan.

What you’ll do :

  • Collect and compile information, analyze statements, operating cycles, cash flow, historical performance of business (if applicable), profitability and net worth of shareholders, conduct security evaluations, and perform risk assessments.
  • Actively pursue internal referral opportunities and external business opportunities.
  • Proactively call on owners of local businesses both in person and via phone to grow your portfolio and expand your network.
  • Maintain the credit quality of the portfolio through collections activity, including asset realization and/or legal situations.
  • Build partnerships by effectively communicating with employees and members and accessing the needed information to meet needs.
  • Meet member needs and build excellent, loyal relationships over time.
  • Protect and grow the financial strength of Beem and our members.
  • Apply techniques and people strategies for guiding and implementing change.
  • Promote quality work through effective contribution to, and support for, team efforts to accomplish the objectives of the team as a whole.
  • Assist in the training and mentoring of other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

A little about your qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree or a diploma requiring 2+ years of full-time study or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of job-related experience in the commercial lending field.
  • Working knowledge of the writing and adjudication of small business and commercial credit.
  • Incumbent must have their own vehicle and be willing to travel.
