PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Coordinator Creative (Copywriting) is responsible for the development production and management of creative assets to ensure a consistent expression of the Super Natural British Columbia family of brands and the Destination British Columbia tourism industry brand.
Reporting to the Specialist Creative they play a crucial role in meeting the creative needs of the global marketing campaigns across both owned and earned channels ensuring all outputs are on-strategy on-brand and on-deadline. They are a creative thinker with strong writing and communication skills who excel at copywriting and curating visual content. Their experience spans various digital platforms with a solid understanding of copy for email social media and web channels.
The Coordinator Creative helps shape and execute Destination BCs creative strategy and editorial plan ensuring that all content is consistent accurate and aligned with the performance metrics of our brand marketing activities. Organized collaborative and proactive they provide essential project planning and management support across a variety of creative initiatives. This includes supporting the creation and delivery of project and creative briefs assisting with the management of creative suppliers like photographers writers and videographers and developing new creative assets for Destination BC and its tourism partners. Their proactive approach allows them to identify and implement improvements in creative processes enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of creative planning production and publishing. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality enables them to deliver outstanding results whether working as part of a team or independently in a fast-paced environment.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Supports the Specialist Creative in the development of new creative for use in Destination BCs annual global brand marketing programs;
- Supports the procurement process for creative suppliers production planning (e.g. securing of permits for shoots) and evaluation of creative assets;
- Supports the development of project and / or creative briefs that deliver on the global brand strategies for marketing and other projects;
- Assists with the briefing sessions for creative suppliers (e.g. photographers writers videographers agencies) on the Super Natural British Columbia family of brands including suppliers of tourism industry partners as required;
- Works closely with colleagues across the Brand Storytelling team towards a strong impactful creative expression of the Destination BC and Super Natural British Columbia family of brands across all creative outputs;
- Curates creates and collaborates on accurate and compelling written and visual creative about the Super Natural British Columbia family of brands destinations products and tourism experiences for various distribution channels (including websites social media and email marketing); these channels and tactics have substantial reach and are often subject to significant public and industry scrutiny;
- Applies a strong working knowledge of web writing and search engine optimization (SEO) in relation to target audiences and branding to develop and optimize creative for digital channels;
- Assists with the creation scheduling and publishing of content across Super Natural British Columbia family of brands owned channels (web email and / or social media) to deliver on the global editorial calendar;
- Plans develops and implements a series of tracking and reporting processes to monitor content program and project results;
- Using diverse sources ensures that editorial content is factually and contextually accurate unbiased reflects safety and responsible travel best practices and is appropriate for the intended audience / market;
- Investigates and responds to enquiries and / or feedback about Destination BCs creative from internal and external sources (including the public) such as outdated or inaccurate information or suggested changes / additions and implements changes where appropriate;
- Ensures Destination BCs brand guidelines and style guide are effectively and consistently adhered to in content published across all channels;
- Supports the DAM Coordinator for Destination BCs Digital Asset Management (DAM) System; this includes participating in decision making around the platform as well as responsibility for uploading organizing and archiving of both visual and written content;
- Prepares monitors and tracks contracts ensuring compliance with brand requirements and established policies; liaises with contractors to provide general work direction & ensure delivery of services in accordance with contract terms and conditions
- Reviews and has the financial authority to approve expenditures of up to $5000;
- Contributes to the creative content planning process bringing forward relevant compelling ideas and insights;
- Maintains strong current knowledge of the Super Natural British Columbia family of brands geography tourism products and trends;
- Provides expert advice product knowledge and process improvement recommendations (e.g. fact-checking advice on content development processes proofreading and editing) to other DBC business areas and tourism partners; and
- Other duties as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Degree or diploma in marketing communications digital marketing or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two years experience in a copywriting / creative / content marketing role.
- Minimum two years experience in a role working with external vendors or creative suppliers.
- Minimum two years experience in creating curating and publishing brand-aligned creative for digital channels including social media email and web.
- Experience developing contracts and contractor relationship management;
- Excellent verbal written and visual communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience with online content management systems and content marketing tools.
- Preference for experience at a marketing / advertising agency or an in-house team for a consumer-facing brand.
