Alberta Precision Labs is seeking a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist II to direct and supervise the daily operations of the Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments. You will coordinate site processes and ensure adherence to established standards and practices.
The role requires a CLXT diploma and active or eligible ACCLXT registration, with preferred supervisory experience and capability in quality control and occupational leadership.
Help clinicians and patients diagnose and manage disease in Alberta Precision Laboratories’ (APL’s) busy rural communities by joining our South Zone team. Here you will be responsible for using advanced technical skills and judgement to assist South Zone Rural Lab site supervisors with development and implementation of diagnostic processes, procedures in conjunction with Pathologists and laboratory managers.You’re an analytical, organized lab technologist who works well under pressure and will support lab administration duties to include testing, staffing, training and feedback, quality control programs, scheduling, costing and ordering supplies as needed.This position is responsible for identifying results, issues, or situations that require escalation to the Clinical Supervisor, Manager, Director, Clinical Chemists, or Pathologists. The role will primarily support laboratory processes within Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Specimen Pre- and Post-Analytics, while also contributing to other laboratory areas as required.As an excellent problem-solver, you can adapt, prioritize, and manage your time while ensuring lab and organizational policy compliance, including quality control and quality assurance procedures. As a Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologist II, you will direct and supervise the day-to-day operation of department staff and services in their area. You will be responsible for the coordination, organization and operation of the site Laboratory and Diagnostic Imaging departments. You will also be responsible to perform site specific manual and automated laboratory procedures, diagnostic imaging exams, cardiology procedures and related duties following established standards and practice defined by the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technologists (ACCLXT), College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and Health Professions Act.
Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT).Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience in Chemistry, Hematology and Coagulation within the last 5 years.Experience in quality control review, new equipment workup, method validation, statistical analysis, reagent management, proficiency testing & LIS user acceptance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:Three years of supervisory experience, in the last five years.Training in quality improvement, conflict resolution, and leadership is an asset.Preference will be given to candidates with advanced technical troubleshooting skills as well as experience in incident investigation, corrective action implementation, safety, and accreditation standards.Previous rural experience is an asset.
