Name and description of hiring department Télébec

The candidate will be responsible to carry out installation, repair, replacement, modification and maintenance of equipment and telecommunications equipment to residential and business customers. They will install, connect, maintain and remove efficiently and without any direct supervision circuit and data transmission equipment as well as business products such as telephone equipment, voice mail and other.

Job Duties/Accountabilities
  • Install, move, remove, repair, replace, modify and maintain according to the standards, procedures and guidelines, equipment for the transmission of voice and data
  • Organize the daily work to read the records, set itinerary, communicate beforehand with the customer and provide the opportunity to estimate the work to be done for business facilities
  • Familiarize customers in the telecommunication equipment during installation and to promote the sale of products / services and company equipment with the company's customers
  • Perform checking circuits using a tester and see preventive maintenance
  • Perform wiring, connections, terminations and connections necessary to make the equipment clean functional in its industry
  • Create, edit, move or delete the programming parameters of telecommunication ports and network equipment. Perform update the corresponding databases
  • Communicate with specialized personnel to solve problems and give or receive information
  • Handle, transport, settle, adjust and use tools, equipment, materials and vehicles appropriate, arrange for maintenance and cleanliness of the workplace. Classify and maintain inventory in its sector
  • Performs DATA commands and special services
  • Complete various forms and prepare reports on its work
  • Be available to meet customer demand, for emergencies and to travel
  • Be available at all times (overtime) to travel (many trips by helicopter, snowmobile, ATV)
  • Perform any related work that will be required and fitness
Essential Qualifications/Skills
  • College diploma in electronics or telecommunications, or equivalent work experience (a minimum of a high school diploma is required for candidates outside of the Teamsters Télébec bargaining unit)
  • Excellent knowledge of the outside plant
  • Hold a valid driver’s license - Class 5
  • High Manuel Dexterity, able to work with variety of hand tools
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy weight (i.e. 80 lbs) as ladders
  • Trained to work aloft in poles and ladders over possibly long durations also with spur
  • Capable to work aloft, kneeling, bending and working in restricted spaces
  • Capable of differentiating colored wires (color code)
  • Knowledge of English and French required,in the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders
  • As required to meet customer’s needs, agree to undergo a background security clearance
  • Knowledge of different products and services business

Working conditions
  • Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and may be called upon to work variable schedules according to business needs, to participate in a standby program and to work overtime as needed
