Position Summary:CSN Champlain is looking for an
Auto Body Technician to join our team. The Auto Body Technician must be able to repair or restore damaged vehicles to their original structural integrity, function, and appearance. The incumbent should be detail-oriented and capable of multitasking to accommodate shifting priorities.
Primary Objectives of the Auto Body (Collision Repair) Technician:- Review damage reports and estimates of repair costs, and plan work accordingly
- Thoroughly examine collision damage, review all exterior body parts, check power accessories, and identify any overlooked damages
- Perform structural and body repairs, including replacing front end components, doors, frames, and underbody parts
- Straighten bent frames using specialized equipment, hammer out dents and buckles
- Weld on vehicles using MIG welders and spot welders
- Dismantle damaged vehicle areas to identify hidden damages early in the repair cycle
- File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces with power and hand tools
- Mask and tape surfaces in preparation for painting, apply primers, and repaint surfaces
- Use soldering equipment or plastic fillers to fill holes and seams
- Restore vehicles to factory specifications
- Inspect and test drive repaired vehicles for proper handling
- Read and understand repair estimates and procedures
- Work with various metals, plastics, glass, electrical, and mechanical parts
- Use frame and measuring equipment, disassemble and reassemble vehicles
- Follow standardized production processes and be a positive ambassador for CSN
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:- At least 3+ years of auto body repair and refinishing experience
- Auto Body Collision and Damage Repairer (310B) Red Seal License preferred or in a registered apprenticeship
- Certifications such as I-Car and OEM are favorable; must have I-Car welding certification and vocational certificate in collision repair
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs, stand, sit, walk, reach
- Valid driver’s license and own tools, safety footwear
- Up-to-date compliance training (AODA, WHMIS, Workplace Safety, PIPEDA)
- Knowledge of Mitchell/Audatex (3-5 years)
On-the-Job Exposure:- Dirt, fumes, chemicals, hazards, heat/cold, noise
