Job description

College Nine Elective Courses Pre-six Lecturer

Salary range :

An estimated salary for teaching a standard five-credit course ranges from $8,531 to $14,523 (salary points 1-19). Refer to the UCSC Salary Scales and the Non-senate Instructional (NSI) Unit 18 Pre-six Lecturer Academic Year scale. Course salary may be adjusted based on Instructional Workload Credit (IWC) valuation. Compensation for Summer Session courses may differ from academic year courses.

Variable, based on course load (one five-credit course equals 37.5%).

Anticipated start :

Appointments depend on instructional needs and funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments from spring quarter 2025 through spring quarter 2026. Appointments after this period require a new recruitment process.

Appointments are typically during fall, winter, and spring quarters, but may also occur during Summer Session.

College Nine at UC Santa Cruz invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers for enhancement courses under the guidance of the College Provost. Courses aim to provide small, seminar-style classes that augment general education and disciplinary studies, aligned with College Nine's theme of International and Global Perspective. Candidates may have opportunities to design or develop new courses and should be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary environment, drawing from humanities, arts, social sciences, or life sciences.

Applicants with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Experience working with diverse student backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of international and global perspectives.
  • Master's degree or at least one year of Ph.D. coursework completed.
  • At least two years of university-level teaching experience.
