Position Overview:

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and working as part of a dynamic operations team, the Telehandler/Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of material handling equipment on-site. This role plays a critical part in supporting daily projects and site operations by loading, unloading, and transporting materials to designated areas. The operator ensures all movements are carried out with safety, accuracy, and timeliness while adhering to site procedures and regulations. This position requires a strong awareness of safety, the ability to follow instructions precisely, and a proactive attitude toward maintaining equipment and work areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate telehandler and/or forklift to move, load, unload, and place materials safely and efficiently.
  • Transport materials to and from designated locations on sites, yards, or warehouses.
  • Perform daily pre-operation inspections and basic maintenance of equipment.
  • Ensure proper load handling, weight distribution, and secure transport.
  • Communicate effectively with site supervisors and crew to coordinate material movements.
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition and report any issues or needed repairs.
  • Adhere to all site safety protocols and operational procedures.
  • Document material movements and assist with basic inventory tasks.
  • Support timely completion of daily project tasks by ensuring material availability.
  • Assist with site cleanup and general labour duties as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Telehandler and/or Forklift Operator Certification.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience operating telehandler or forklift equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices and procedures related to material handling.
  • Ability to read and interpret load charts and follow directions precisely.
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good verbal communication skills and a positive, safety-first attitude.
  • Knowledge of site/yard operations or logistics is an asset.
