Job summary

Benpro-Technologies is seeking a mechanically inclined Pipe Beveler to join our production team in Calgary. You will prepare carbon and other pipe for bending, review orders, lay out pipe, operate beveling and oxy-acetylene equipment, grind ends, and ensure finished pipe meets specifications.

This hands-on role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and quality workmanship as core requirements. You will work with measuring tools, read work orders, and verify traceability while maintaining a safe work area.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude is required.
• Pipe beveling or pipe-preparation experience is a strong asset.
• Experience with pipe, structural steel, and fabrication is an asset.
• Experience with oxy-acetylene cutting is preferred.
• Experience using grinders and other hand/power tools.
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure.
• Comfortable reading and following work orders, cut sheets, and shop instructions.
• Experience operating overhead cranes and rigging loads.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on quality.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures.
• Safety-focused and comfortable working around large/heavy pipe.

Responsibilities

• Read and understand work orders, cut sheets, drawings and production documentation.
• Measure and lay out pipe accurately prior to bending.
• Operate beveling equipment.
• Set up and safely operate oxy-acetylene cutting equipment.
• Grind and finish pipe ends to required specifications.
• Use tape measures and other measuring equipment accurately.
• Identify and maintain material traceability including heat numbers, serial numbers and job numbers.
• Stencil and mark pipe according to work order and customer requirements.
• Operate overhead cranes and use slings/rigging to safely handle pipe.
• Verify completed work against work orders and travel sheets; maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Report defects, discrepancies or quality concerns to the Lead Hand/Supervisor

• Comfortable working with fractions, measurements, angles and tolerances
• Ability to read and follow work orders, cut sheets and shop instructions.
• Experience operating an overhead crane and rigging loads.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to identify quality issues and communicate them rather than passing defective work forward
• Able to work independently while following established procedures
